About The Artwork
I took a photograph on a travel tour and redraw the "picture". Then I started breaking it up into fragments to give an impression of the bridge, but still make it recognizable. The technique is washes of watercolor, wait for it to dry before applying the next wet layer of the previous creating a multi-layered composition. The work was selected for the Watercolor Society of South Africa's anual exhibition and won the special award that year. It was bought on this Johannesburg exhibition and is now in a Pretoria collection.
