About The Artwork

This work has been painted for three years, starting with the first brush strokes in 2018. I decided to try a new style of work away from the existing work, and I completed this work with a lot of concerns and attempts. At first, I was not familiar with free and anomalous brush strokes, so I worked in an uncomfortable feeling. Color disharmony and sloppy brush strokes were revealing my condition as it was. I drew several other works to fill in the shortcomings, and I started drawing the work again after I got used to the technique. Unlike in the beginning, it was drawn so naturally this time. However, I felt that the skills I got used to were reducing the charm of the work. So only after a long break did I get a sense of the appropriate brush strokes and colors to complete this work. Even now, if you look closely, there are several techniques in this painting that are painted at different times and feel quite different. The unfamiliar first technique, the relentless brush strokes, and the finishing brush strokes drawn by putting down the pressure. Fortunately, all of these naturally blend together to form a beautiful poppy flower garden.

Through observing and drawing various aspects of our lives, I am thinking about myself, and furthermore, about the existence of humans. The various techniques and materials that I learn while working on my drawings also help me understand the world and live a better life. On the contrary, the knowledge and various experiences that I learn in life help me work better and find answers to why I paint. Through those processes, ultimately, I want to be an artist who captures and paints the beauty that exists in every moment.
