Prism 1 2 3 Painting

Triptych painting inspired by light refraction and reflection through glass forms. Creates a sense of depth and changes color with movement as I have employed innovative signature brushwork that creates reflection and incredible depth of field. One of my best works that took years to master and complete- Details expose the unique brushwork was dubbed "Prismatic" by Michael Zakian,PHD; Art historian and director: Weisman Museum of Art, Malibu, CA. The works are 'Prisms" of light and will catch light when placed in a bright spot or bring dark areas to life- In "Prisms", I paradoxically project a hyper-dimensional space, through a two-dimensional medium of painting and drawing. These forms are visually created, and represent the light travelling within the forms, all the way to the boundary to another field of color, refracting light, distorting the image, creating a deeper volume from the hues and values, as well as the shadows, suggesting a complexity of a greater space. What starts as flat, begins to unfold in multiple dimensions, projecting various conceptual depths, as well as a physical experience before an attentive spectator. The monochromatic and flat backgrounds in the paintings, place the observer in an abstract geometric plane, foreign to the material reality, but full of dimensional possibilities. The paradox intensifies, as the viewer moves and spatial and formal ambiguity begin to shift and change the perception in our visual field. A detailed look, reveals that the signature brushstrokes, together with the represented light, create movement within the work, as one moves about them, blurring the boundaries between the immediate and the distant.
