ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Original painting done using acrylics and markers on a collage of corrugated paper and reused white paper sheet, 2018. I am the creator of this new mix-media approach to halftone technique, the "cicerotone", which is achieved using corrugated paper to paint on. This technique gives the viewer an interesting sense of texture and intricate details when looked at close proximity. At distance the optical illusion that reproduces the photographic effect of halftone emerges in its full force. One of a kind, original art piece crafted and hand signed on its back by the artist. In this piece I used recycled/reused paper, in this way it is possible that ripples occur on the surface of the work, which, if desired, may be corrected, at least in part, by framing. I'm a Brazilian mixed-media artist who likes pop culture, urban and vintage aesthetics. My work is primarily focused on collages made from discarded materials like office paper, old book pages and cotton textiles that I use as supports for my paintings. These materials allow for rich textures which give me te ability to mimic the impression of old walls with paint, poster fragments, and graffiti that have accumulated over time, in order to convey the influences of my art, mostly the pop art of the 1960s, the graffiti of the 80s/90s and the recent street art movement. Sharing beauty and upholding what is true and good are my goals, hoping that my art may uplift, bring joy and energize those who value my artworks.
