About The Artwork
"Ramble" is an acrylic/mixed media abstract landscape painted on paper - minimalist yet expressionistic. To achieve the highly textured effect, I layered tissue paper on to the watercolor paper and painted on that surface. I am hoping that the viewer sees something new each time they view this painting; maybe a field with many paths, a mountain, a dry lake bed, or anything else that the imagination sees.

Growing up in New York City was a great experience and has influenced my outlook on art and life. There was amazing access to museums and other cultural institutions and the energy of the city was always present. I have lived in California for many years now where I am close to both a major urban area and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, surrounded by incredible natural beauty. I am able to draw from many cultures for inspiration that influences my artwork, such as the Japanese concepts of wabi sabi and notan, and of haiku poetry. My series of Haiku Threads paintings reflect that influence.
