This female nude shows a woman who seems out of balance and it is difficult to tell if she is falling backwards or rising above the ground, as if sucked into the sky. The title "Renaissance" (rebirth in French) suggests that it is the second option, like a resurrection, almost an apotheosis which leads the character to tear herself from the ground and her earthly condition to become a being moved by an invisible force and turned to the top. This artwork is made in mixed media on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glaze and raised squares). This is a one-of-kind piece. It is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 66 x 30 x 3.5 cm) Note: this painting is an alternate version of another much larger piece from 2016 (120 x 60 cm) in green hues, which can be seen in one of the photos. That other artwork is available on request, please contact the site.

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
