Cities have become the natural habitat of humanity and often, we rush to live our lives and neglect to notice our environment which is full of art pieces with stories to tell and characters to get to know, although the meeting is not always a pleasure. The image depicts an undeservedly neglected building in Budapest that I have thought restored in the picture. Budapest - the capital of Hungary - is a city with eclectic architecture, in it everyone can find what they love.

In recent years, I have used OSB as a basis. By retracting the paint layers, I use the texture of the veneer as part of my compositions to create a unique rustic industrial atmosphere.

The painting is made with self-made paint, which basically consists of pigments and beeswax. Does not contain oil or other paints.

The procedure itself dates back to antiquity and has been known for thousands of years. Only few artists around the world work with wax on its own.
Pictures made with encaustic are characterized by bright color and silky light. Thanks to the well-preserving properties of the wax, the colors do not fade over time and retain their liveliness.
Encaustics paintings, like paintings taken with oil, must be protected from water and physical influences. Do not place under glass when framing!
Over time, they become dusty or slightly oxidized by the wax. In this case, it is advisable to wipe with a slightly crumpled kitchen paper towel and the painting regain their original brilliant color and shine.

About The Artwork

Cities have become the natural habitat of humanity and often, we rush to live our lives and neglect to notice our environment which is full of art pieces with stories to tell and characters to get to know, although the meeting is not always a pleasure. The image depicts an undeservedly neglected building in Budapest that I thought was restored in the picture. Budapest - the capital of Hungary - is a city with eclectic architecture, in it, everyone can find what they love. In recent years, I have been using OSB as the basis for my encaustic works for two reasons. One is that these raw materials are made from recycled wood, and the other is that I like the industrial effect texture that this raw material gives. Every work is already different due to the pattern of the wood, so no two paintings can be the same. Due to the OSB board, these works of art are very stable but heavy. This is recycled art. The encaustic is equipped with a simple wooden exhibition frame, which harmonizes with the industrial style of the painting and highlights it well. Ready to hang! This work will be delivered with Care Instructions for my encaustic paintings and a signed certificate of authenticity. Carefully packaged and tracked shipping. I ship this work in cardboard boxes careful wrapped in bubble foil and protect the painting with cardboard.

„I show the details instead of the whole, sort of inviting the viewer to embrace and understand their surroundings” Dora Stork was selected artist in the London Art Biennale in 2023, an award-winning Hungarian painter whose art has appeared in solo and group exhibitions in the UK, Hungary, and Romania. Her work can also be found in many private collections in the United States, the European Union, and Japan. Dora is an abstract realistic encaustic artist: abstract in the world of color, realistic in the world of form, and symbolist in meaning. As a politically minded painter, she is interested in public life as well as social and economic processes. She presents her particular vision in these works. The dreamlike compositions are her intuitive reflections on public issues. At the same time, seemingly astonishing, strange circumstances and inappropriate details on a rational sphere might evoke questions in the viewer. She mainly uses pure wax and pigments to make her paintings. Over the years, she has developed a medium that does not contain oil or any non-waxy additives. When she occasionally paints with acrylic, the characteristics of her figurative style transform into an imaginary interpretation of nature. Dora is an active, awarded member of her community and regularly takes part in their group exhibitions every year.
