This painting was inspired by some news about Amy Winehouse which I found in 2013 in a local newspaper in Camden Town, London. The news was about a note, which apparently Amy left behind as a scrap of forgotten paper in which she wrote the lyrics for her great and famous song Back to black. The news was about how that scrap of paper went to an auction house and my intention was to use the news and the transcript from the newspaper onto a painting, as a comment on the Society of Spectacle. The painting looks much better than the photo and am very pleased with it. Also, I decided to translate the text into Spanish, as I considered it more convenient according to my background. Particularly liked to paint the stains and marks of ageing that took over the scrap from the newspaper I kept for several years. Hope you like it too!
