About The Artwork

It is all about composition and perpsective, through which one can hear, see and feel. Portraing here the sound of rustling leaves and ocean waves while evoking escapes represented by the lonely cloud over the horizon.

I have spent the first years of my life between Brazil, where I was born, and Argentina before moving to Rome Italy. I have always been a compulsive traveller; during my many forays into the far east I have been captivated by the tremendous energy and promises of Southeast Asia. By the end of 1990 I have permanently settled in Malaysia where I have lived ever since. Southeast Asia is one of the richest arts areas of the world. The profound religious and philosophically intense world view, coupled by dramatic landscapes vivid with colours enveloped by tropical mists, creates the right atmospheres for continuous soul searching. These atmospheres have inspired and encouraged me to take on the brushes. The nature of my work is varied and inspired by existential themes, social issues, and political events. It is often accompanied by poetry. I work mostly with oil and acrylic on canvas and wood and my style includes various elements of modern, surrealism, pop and cubism. I take great inspiration from David Hockney work. I generally get busy with whatever inspires my observational curiosity whether in real life or reproduced by photography. Moods are central to the choice of the subject, so it has a lot to do with my different emotional states. A permanent vacillation between abstract and figurative. I am drowned by lines and colour. Sometimes I see clearly, some other times I am caught in a tangle of lines, shapes, light, and shades. With my work I wish to inspire considered thoughts and touch whoever looks at my work, sensibilizing them on existential as much as social issues.
