About The Artwork

In his solitude, Saint Jerome diligently translated the ancient texts. In the midst of the silence, an unexpected guest crept out, a naked mole rat, whose small form was peculiar but strangely captivating. Saint Jerome looked at the creature curiously. "What brings you here, little one?" he asked, his voice soft but full of wonder. The mole rat, though unable to speak, looked at him with eyes that seemed to hold ancient wisdom. It approached cautiously, its pink skin glistening in the dim light. St. Jerome, always eager to learn from all of God's creation, reached out, offering intimacy "You may not speak as I do," he said gently, "but perhaps you have wisdom to share in your own way." The mole rat, sensing the saint's kindness, approached. Although their forms were very different, there seemed to be a quiet understanding between them. As they sat together, Saint Jerome contemplated the mysteries of creation, contemplating the divine purpose behind even the smallest creature. In the days that followed, the naked mole rat became a constant guest of St. Jerome's, a silent but comforting presence in the midst of his scientific pursuits. In silent deliberation, Saint Jerome understood the beauty and complexity of all living things, recognizing the hand of God in every creature, however humble. And so Saint Jerome found in the company of the naked mole rat not only a companion, but also a teacher, reminding him of the infinite wonder of God's creation and the wisdom found in the most unexpected places.
