VIEW IN MY ROOM
This piece was created alongside GOLGOTHA. It was my intention to create pieces that were bright and colourful and so used bright pink and orange as my foundation. SEED OF THE WOMAN was quite a challenge. Following the same pattern as GOLGOTHA, I began with an abstract flow and then stepped back to consider which elements stood out. There is considerable movement in this piece. The length of the canvas, the “rain of fire” and the lion moving downwards help to convey the concept of “falling” which is in fact the message of this piece. As the fire and the lion were formed I was reminded of the words of Jesus when He said to the 72 after they returned, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Luke 10:18. The “rain of fire” refers to Revelations 12:3-5 “Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth.” Notice the white cross which is lifted up to heaven and descends into the lowest place to crush the head of the lion and pin him down. It is a part of the towering structure which is erected above the low place that the lion has descended into. This represents the EKKLESIA. I chose the colour pink in this structure for artistic reasons, but later realized that is was in reference to the promise given to Eve in the garden which from which the painting derives it’s name: SEED OF THE WOMAN. Genesis 3:14-15 14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring[a] and hers; he will crush[b] your head, and you will strike his heel.”
