She Chose # 2 Painting

"She Chose # 2 " is made with encaustic medium and mixed media techniques and has approximately 30 layers of pigmented beeswax and demar resin. The piece is 40" x 40" x 3" and is mounted in a repurposed frame made from floor joists from a factory in Downtown Toronto, on Queen Street West. Hanging Hardware is included. "She Chose" is inspired by a poem that captured my attention. This need to create a piece inspired by this poem was so strong that the pull to do it felt magnetic. The colours and style chosen for this piece were directly tied to the feelings, sensations and mood that this poem elicited within my soul. “She Chose” was written by Cara Alwill Leyba. The words to this poem are: “She realized she had this one. This big, bold, and beautiful life. And she realized she didn't want to live it chasing, and crying, and apologizing. Starving, and fearing, and regretting. She realized she wanted to live it proudly, and freely, and creatively. Lovingly, and fully, and sweetly. She realized she could choose. And so, she chose"
