About The Artwork
Shiki means four seasons The oil painting is composed of four separate panels, each one depicting a different season. The Japanese calligraphy written on the painting reveals the names of each season as follows: Fuyu, meaning winter; Haru, meaning spring; Natsu, meaning summer; and Aki, meaning autumn. Each panel is designed to capture the essence and mood of the respective season. The winter panel depict a snow-covered urbanscape, while the spring panel feature the cherry blossoms and crocus a flower within which kesar grows. The summer panel depict the sunflowers, roses and crape myrtle. while the autumn panel feature fall foliage and changing colors.
