Adrienne Rich wrote: "There is no "the truth" "a truth"—truth is not one thing, or even a system. It is an increasing complexity...This is why the effort to speak honestly is so important." I often find myself trying to simplify my work in an effort to distill a concept or convey a feeling. Adrienne Rich has me questioning this approach, and I am curious about allowing the complexity to increase. My work is inspired by global events, personal moments, human relationships, and happenstances that I observe. I am interested in visually capturing how daily life feels to people who are living in today's world. As we collectively move through a challenging period of history, I feel that it is important to pay attention to details and notice the things that may easily be lost in the clamor of our everyday experience. I hope that my work will serve as documentation of this time. All of my work is created using high quality paints and mediums. This painting is matte varnished and ships unmounted. There is a generous border of canvas around the finished size of 52" x 91" to allow for wrapping around deep stretcher bars (see additional photos). It can easily be stretched and mounted by your local framer.
