About The Artwork

As a man or woman sits on a rock overlooking the mountains, he/she becomes one with the mountain, taking its shape and becoming yet another peak in the endless ribbon of the mountain ridge. I used very simple lines in this piece so that I could concentrate on the colors and how the progression of the tones could reflect an inner stillness and acceptance of one's place in the universe. I again used acrylic paint mixed with Molding paste for drawing the lines, and acrylic paint mixed with clear gesso to bring out the texture of the raw linen.

o My Chinese destiny, as told to me by a friend in Singapore, hit the bullseye – Until I turned 35, things wouldn’t go very well, so just push through. But once I turned 35, and traveled overseas, fortune would be on my side. And it was right. After graduating from the University of North Texas with a degree in Radio, Television and Film, I n lived in New York City for three years working in film production. I then lived in Houston working as a union stagehand. My next stage of development as an artist was living in South Korea for five years working on a teaching visa, when I was 37. During this time, I also worked as a writer, actor, and photographer. Upon returning to Dallas, I began working as a union stagehand once again. Three years later, I produced and hosted a weekly internet radio show featuring contemporary Korean music other than K-pop. A few years later, 2017, I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder. As part of my mental health strategy, I joined a peer support group of other artists that had been diagnosed with mental health challenges. Within a few months of the weakly discussions about disciplines and techniques in art, I began drawing and painting.
