About The Artwork

The project investigates the condition of man in contemporary society and aims to raise questions in particular about unexamined assumptions about the integrity and simplicity of human identity, what we call "I". From both theoretical and pictorial point of view, this project activity is based on key words such as self or substance, and seeks to explore and bring to the viewer an overview of the variable and divided characteristics of identity,in which man engages as in a mysterious and inexplicable fiction. The work reflects in the approach and their development, personal interest in accessing truth, simplicity and clarity, by removing myth and illusion in particular the illusion of the self. Image inspired from MadMen tv series. I very much enjoyed working on this image. Taking the time to investigate the colors and patterns, and using this vehicle to transfer to the viewer the kind of alienation that man often finds himself into.

I am a Ph.D. student in arts in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where I grew up. My artistic practice has been highly influenced by international but also Romanian modern and contemporary artists. It made me more curious about the transition between figurative and abstract painting. My efforts tended towards abstraction of form, mainly unity of form in visual manifestations and understanding of the principles that govern our construction of form that arise from our perception of space. In my research, I've been developing my perception faculties, such as seeing and resolving the relationship between tridimensional form and its psychological appearance and their consequences in artistic representation. Artistic contemporary practice made me shy away from basing my work solely on the functional or dramatic relationship of the parts constituting the work of art (mentioning here the pastiche, the parody, the imitative art, or art that relates only to the represented object). It made me move towards the unity of functional values as a unity of spacial values - to clarify natural sources of inspiration and express a living, self-sufficient content.
