About The Artwork

acrylic on canvas 24 x 36 inches (60.9 x 91.4 cm) 1.75" deep edge gallery wrapped canvas the painting is wired and ready to hang Winter Solstice is the longest night and the shortest day of the year. The dark half of the year relinquishes to the light half. This is the time to celebrate the return of the light. It is a time of renewal and hope. This painting has a small amount of texture and scraping. If you'd like to see close up photos of the texture and scraping, please contact me through my website www.kimbruceart.com. Beauty in the Broken I strive to create art that reveals the beauty of things broken The inherent artistic perfection of the imperfect and the aged Art revealed through damage and distress During the initial stages of painting, I paint the sides of the canvas. During the later stages, while I am pouring and dripping paint, spraying water onto the canvas, scraping and squeegeeing the paint, some of the paint will drip over the sides of the painting. I prefer to leave the drips and splashes of paint on the sides, and not paint over them. By doing this, the process that the painting has gone through to get to the final stage is recorded. The sides of the painting become their own work of art.
