"Splendor" series began after 9/11/01 when Fujimura found himself painting and raising his family in "Ground Zero" community of TriBeCa, New York City. In an attempt to fight back the darkness, Fujimura hearkened after his mentor Matazo Kayama (Fujimura was one of the last students Kayama sensei mentored at Tokyo University of Art in Nihonga) to bring Rinpa (of 17th century Japan) sensibilities into contemporary art. Fujimura's art has been part of the "slow art" movement that brings attentiveness and beauty into contemporary art, and this new painting, done in 2020, exhibited at Artrue International Gallery in Taipei is one of the key paintings to be featured there. Cardus magazine, lead by Anne Snyder Brooks, featured this painting on their magazine cover.
