In the scene "Start Young, Stay Wise", the essence of innocence and wisdom come together in the form of a young girl, rendered in the sharp contrast of black and white like an old photograph from long ago. She stands at the edge of a crystal-clear stream, her boots anchored in the water, holding branches in her hands as if they were the wands of a sorceress casting spells on the surrounding nature. The monochrome hues enveloping her figure evoke a timeless image and allude to the universal experiences of youth. The branches in her hands become extensions of her curiosity . The girl's solitary presence underlines the power of solitude, allowing the imagination to flourish without the distractions of the world. In the background, a dense and impenetrable forest stretches endlessly, a metaphor for the unknown future that awaits her. The division between the open stream and the dark forest highlights the delicate balance between the freedom of youth and the looming mysteries of adulthood. "Start Young, Stay Wise" invites viewers to reflect on the beauty of simplicity and the wisdom that can be gained by embracing nature. It serves as a visual ode to the boundless potential inherent in youth and encourages us to reconnect with the outdoors and the untamed recesses of our own minds.

I assemble original photography, assorted papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink and pencil in my works. The variety of resources I am able to use has proved indispensable to me. The biggest challenge the collage medium posed was its unforgiving lack of transparency. Finding a way to replicate the effects of transparency afforded by paint, especially water colors, was “a large victory” for me . The preparing labor shows through in my collages; layer upon layer of material remains visible in the finished pieces. I believe my body of work is characterized by my skill for reinvention. Having always loved the appearance of weathered walls plastered with peeling paint and old posters, I revive this aesthetic with hopefully a keen and professional eye. The creative objective of my work is to “make something beautiful out of dilapidation.”My tableaus explore the dissonance between old and new materials, intertwined in the most beautiful possible way to create dreamlike and melancholy images.
