About The Artwork
While I was living in Washington state there was a fair amount of stormy weather. The area called the Skagit Valley still looks a lot like it probably did 100 years ago with farm houses standing alone in the fields. I liked this moody view of the darkening sky and created this as a loose rendition of the scene. It's painting using charcoal and oil on a gallery-wrapped canvas with deep edges, so it is ready to hang.

I also enjoy playing with color and have lived in both gray zones (Seattle) and sun spots (Los Angeles) so my artwork gravitates toward one extreme or the other. I like to build texture, suggest rather than define, and I most enjoy creating an expressionistic piece is more about mood than actual places or things.
