Submersion Painting

I've really been focusing on the light and shadow in my paintings lately, I love the way light hits the body underwater adding another dimension to how you perceive the figure. The tranquillity of floating underwater cuts out any visual noise and adds to the feeling of peace. I like to use a fluorescent base on my paintings to add an element of energy to the softer colours I use on top. The contrast between the realistic body and the loose gestural water sits well together, giving the feeling of being underwater whilst allowing me to use colours that are not necessarily an obvious choice. I really like being able to choose the colours that suit the mood of the image. Please not the colour of these artworks mean they are very hard to photograph due to the fluorescent base, the cover image has been professionally scanned and is very close to the hung work. The secondary images have been taken by a professional photographer but appear slightly greyed off which is why I had the painting scanned! I am happy to send further images if you require.
