I imagine this girl was walking through the snow on a very cold morning near home with fresh flakes on her woolen hood when suddenly she saw something otherworldly or supernatural up ahead. Maybe a dragon? Enemy invaders? This image was painted on a wooden panel. I established the strong blacks then worked carefully on the subtle flesh and hair tones using the natural wood color as a foundation.
