About The Artwork

"The Island of Solitude" comes from deep thoughts and feelings, a journey into what makes us human. It's the architecture of the human mind in moments we feel depressed, alone, sad, or going through tough times — things we all experience. The painting shows one person on an island, surrounded by trees without lives or fruits, clouds forming the figures of weeping faces and a tree stems with the scary face of an old angry man. Everything on the Island seems scary and sad. This pictures the human mind when we are depressed, that moment everything around us seems terrifying. The abstract style lets you see and feel the emotions in your way, making it personal for each person who looks at it. In the distance, is a river and the sun is rising into the clouds, but the person on the island seems not to notice, focusing on his thoughts. "The Island of Solitude" wants you to feel and think about the emotional state where everything in our lives seems sad and painful. The person in the painting is lost in his thoughts like any of us can be in that moment of great depression, ignoring everything beautiful around us or that will bring us comfort. The river and rising sun are a symbol of hope and beauty, different from the person's inward focus. And it represents the hope and beauty around us even in the darkest moments of our lives. There is always hope only if we choose to see it. As you look at this painting, I invite you to examine those things that depress you, find courage, and look up to see the hope that will set you free.
