The Portrait of a Non-existent Man Painting

The Portrait of a non-existent man is a portrait of Dovydas Tyla. He is a friend of mine. No one saw him alive and some people think he is not real. We had three exhibitions together. 1st one was like a battle of our artworks - mine against his; 2nd was his solo exhibition presenting his drawings, paintings, pastels and our collaborative pieces; 3rd exhibition was combined of three parts: I. drawings by Dovydas Tyla, II. My drawings about Dovydas Tyla by me, his possessions, perfume and other material describing his appearance and/or habits, life events, etc. III. The video installation of a footage by Dovydas Tyla. Some of his artworks were sold. This portrait symbolizes the power of our imagination and beliefs. Since he is balancing between existence and non-existence Dovydas Tyla was painted using only white color acrylic paint and pencil. The piece has a conceptual background and the person itself, the painted one, has many interesting stories to tell. All of them are captured in his diary. They could be revealed to the most curious ones. Soon the paintings of Dovydas Tyla will be presented on Saatchi art platform and will be available to purchase.
