About The Artwork
An article about “the red thread of fate” from the East Asian culture inspired this painting. A person is born with an invisible red thread around a finger connecting to the one destined to meet. I believe everyone is connected with everything in the universe, even when we don’t see a red thread linking us. As Covid-19 has shown, a tiny virus has the power to transform every life. It forced everyone to see the invisible thread that connects us all. I created this piece with three words in mind connectivity, hope, and resiliency. It feels that, perhaps, Covid-19 is teaching not to take life for granted. Possibly, it is teaching us not to take anyone for granted because we are all link. Maybe, just maybe, these hard times are showing us a way to be hopeful for a more inclusive and brighter future. Guiding us to be resilient and responsible humans. I wonder, what is our greater mission in this universe? Can we create a better fate for everyone?

My work is influenced by my heritage, culturally enriched environment that is California and my feminine experiences as a mother and creator. I believe art has the power to influence minds, touch hearts and transform lives without words. My most recent work is an exploration of the perception that as individuals we are tiny and inconsequential particles; however, our actions have an enormous effect on our surroundings, and therefore on the whole universe. My work has evolved over time based on my life experiences as a woman and mother. My current series of paintings examines the invisible yet indelible connection between human actions and the cosmos. I depict powerful and resilient women because many of us walk though life feeling helpless but every single action, no matter how small, we take has a resonant effect that over time will create a greater transformation. And it is our responsibility to make sure that the resulting change is for the good of everyone.
