About The Artwork
"The Tree of Life" is the name of this work. The composition consist from 2 parts. The first one: the action- the bathing of the child (after 40 Days), the second one: tree with ribbons. ⠀ The tradition of tying ribbons is ancient. It takes its origins from the Mongolian-Buryat religions (Buddhism, Shamanism, Tengrism). Initially, women who didn’t have children or who couldn’t conceive expressed their wish with a piece of cloth which they hung on the tallest branches of sacred trees. The wind came in contact with the ribbon spreading the wish through the air, transferring it to the "cosmos", thereby reaching a holy power. Therefore, at the upper half of the artwork you can observe the bathing of a baby of one woman whose desire came true.
