This piece is also part of my 20"x20" collage grid series in which I blend chance and purpose. I fold the papers in adaptations of origami folds and dye them. Then I select among them to create a harmonious grid with them by laying them out in different types of grids and adding paint to complete the "puzzle." Chance plays a role in the dyeing of the papers. It is always a surprise to see the patterns as I unfold them. The Purpose takes over as I organize them into a whole that creates a particular mood. In this case, I was reminded of Japanese landscapes.
