This is an original gouache painting of a tomato. It is part of a series of paintings of foods that inspire me, as I love to cook and eat. Discovering the taste of an heirloom tomato after many years of believing there was only one kind of tomato (the standard supermarket variety) was a moment of great revelation for me – tomatoes CAN be delicious when eaten raw! A flavour powerhouse, the beautifully irregular shaped heirloom tomato is a tasty snack when served with a pinch of salt and a dash of olive oil.
