About The Artwork

This iconic and ironic Pop Modern work was inspired by the months of drama and theatrics presented by the Presidential campaign. It is the artist’s “art theatre of the absurd”. The quote shares some of the Candidate's own philosophy, and not a comment by the artist. Painted in oil on a specially constructed wooden board, it is a realistic painting of Donald Trump gesturing, on an abstract background. The board is first prepared with acrylic so it will support the oil paint, not allowing it to be absorbed into the wood. Montaged into the image is Japanese washi ( the artist’s recent signature added element ) and a newspaper cutting advertising steak priced at .95 cents lb, from a 1965 newspaper. One of Donald Trump’s quotes is splashed across the painting. Beautiful reflective Rembrandt gold oil paint is used on some of the stars and part of the quote.(This is difficlut to see in the picture). It is a true collectible and conversation piece!

ARTIST LYNN MATSUOKA DOCUMENTS CULTURE CNN reported: “Few artists so completely dominate their field that their name becomes synonymous with the subject matter, but Lynn Matsuoka has succeeded in capturing the essence of Sumo and has won a loyal following along the way.“Like Degas with his dancers, Lynn Matsuoka set out to depict the particular beauty of performers who devote their lives to an all-encompassing craft, capturing the nuances of the world they create in the process. Her own devotion was noted, and doors opened that had never been opened before, to anyone”.
