Of course, the purpose of this painting is to encourage viewers to develop their own vision. Why exactly “Ukrainian kitchen»? You can see the sunset, blue forest in the distance, Ukrainian village, and the river in the painting. In the foreground of the painting, there is a field that spreads out on a hill above the village at the level of the blue forest. Ukrainian peasants plant beets on the field. The beets have grown in different weather conditions, But when it comes to harvesting, the beets from the field appear in the kitchen of the housewives from that village. As the result, she cooks a popular dish in Ukraine with those beets with mayonnaise. The pink smear is a symbol of that dish. So the painting depicts the process of evolution of beets from field to table. In Europe, people go to the markets to buy products, and in Ukraine people rear everything with their own hands and eat what they have planted.

I use canvas and oil paint.

About The Artwork

Similar to a Gerhard Richter. "Ukrainian cuisine" art project is a story about the origin of traditional Ukrainian cuisine. At the heart of each abstract painting is a landscape, an image of the Ukrainian land where Ukrainians grow a variety of food. The picture abstractly depicts the path of the product from its basics to the appearance of the finished dish, which emphasizes the presence of a line on each canvas. The truth is simple, as a rule in Ukraine people grow everything with their own hands and eat what they plant themselves. Abroad it is a profession, and in Ukraine, it is a hobby. I use canvas and oil paint.
