Valley of Voices Painting

Valley of Voices was painted en plein air, with a view of a powerful, almost enchanted section of the Kanamaluka Tamar River. The place echos with the sound of life, prompting time for reflection amongst the crickets, frogs, singing birds. Here I can think more deeply about the conversations I'd had with friends and strangers throughout the week about the upcoming Voice referendum in Australia. Looking at this powerful view of nature before me, I hope our voices, in any form, can be heard together to grow, to challenge our thinking, to educate and inform and be better. This ancient place has seen so many generations pass by, some stepping forward and others backwards. A deep breath in of this Island's air, and exhale calmly. Like this landscape, voices have been here for ever so long. But can we hear them?
