I felt these two girls looked quite fed up as they walked to the local well to fetch water. It seems as if the taste of well water is preferred to that of the water from the tap. Taps have been installed in most villages in Rajasthan in recent years which means less women need to make the twice daily trek to the well. The health benefits of this will be great as heavy water pots damage young backs.

My work does not try to capture the chaotic bustle of the Indian cities which many people associate with India. I am more interested in the slower paced passage of time found in less visited parts of the country and the traditional lives and issues faced by rural Indian women.
