If you never try, you‘ll never know. Yes sure, we know that, and sometimes we still do not trust to try. For many different reasons. I have not painted portraits for years. I thought, what if I get the face wrong. What if I waste the canvas. Yes, there is no right or wrong, instead it is a question of seeing and interpretation. And yet, I did not trust it. Besides, there are artists out there that just paint fantastic portraits. And, what if I am not as good as them?! Eventually, I turned the „What if“ question around. When I hesitated, instead I asked: What if it was easy?! And instantly the hesitant feeling shifted towards: Hell yeah, it might be easy and then I should at least have tried, right? So I tried. And enjoyed the process. My artwork „What if“, like my other paintings, is a square format and consists of various colorful, contrasting layers of acrylic paint, ink and charcoal. On your wall, it reminds you to always ask yourself „What if it was easy“ when you seem hesitant.

Germany
Diana Linsse is a German painter who has always been fascinated by images. Linsse is primarily an abstract painter, though like Picasso she believes that “everything you can imagine is real.” She paints by layering modeling paste, acrylic paint, ink, pastels, and charcoal on the canvas. She extracts objects and forms from their usual context and rearranges them in new settings. By doing this, Linsse hopes to achieve unexpected new harmonies and relationships of form and color. The products of this method are beautiful improvised landscapes like “Flow” and her „Morocco New York“ Series, among others. Linsse has always been naturally drawn to painting. She began to pursue it as a teenager, but experienced great disappointment when she won fourth place in an important art competition. While the three winners went on to prestigious art universities, she decided to focus on another field of study. But although she wished to move on from painting, painting did not wish to move on from her. Linsse did not feel content until she returned to painting full time as an adult.
