The monkey depicted in the painting is a Moustached Guenon and is part of the artist's “Habitat” series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. The artist entitled the painting “Yearbook” as the monkey's forward gaze, slightly hunched shoulders, and the addition of a plain background, reminded her of yearbook portraits. The monkey has been meticulously painted in acrylic, using a fine brush to capture each and every hair of fur. The eyes have and intense stare and are painted in a realistic manner. The painting's sides have been painted blue. It is stretched on frame and is easy to hang.
