About The Artwork

The framed number 1 of 9 from the APA NY show at Soho Photo Gallery in December of 2023. Part of my series Thinly Veiled of photographic-based figurative works. This work explores expressions of divergence, manifesting the internal thoughts and emotions. A collaboration of figure and light, pushing and pulling through a restrictive garment allows for the understanding of deeper emotions tucked inside a crude expression. They are inviting, confrontational, textural, but hidden behind mesh and shadow that never allow for a complete understanding. These become a physical representation of the membrane that binds and separates a divergent mind from the outside world. The number one is printed on Museo Max matte paper with a hand-deckled edge, float mounted on a wood panel, and float framed for an exceptional presentation. The print is varnished including UV protection and displays without glazing. Limited Edition prints are hand signed, numbered, and come with a certificate of authenticity. The 16x20 size of this work is an edition of 9 with one AP.

After studying acting at Carnegie Mellon and working as a broadcast journalist in Japan and Alaska in the US Navy, I relocated to San Francisco to finish a degree in cinema at San Francisco State University. I developed and managed multiple live motion production studios, and began freelance directing and cinematography for commercials and independent projects. This became the basis for my creative partnership as Ransom & Mitchell. My personal style continued to develop in areas that were complimentary to that work, focusing on light interplaying with figures. From this I developed the series Tortuous exploring the dark, and Dream Away focused on the light. The versatility and flexibility of my figurative work has allowed me to evolve my visual acumen and style and continues with the incorporation of CG, digital artistry, and physical skills into my workflow.
