Korpo is a small island in the Finnish Archipelago, sitting in the Baltic Sea between Finland and Sweden. I've had the opportunity to live here for two months, watching the sea and the sky change through the midnight sunlight. This work is a series of bodily gestures, sun salutations done in the dark, using photographs of the horizon that are played across the LEDs that I dance with in the dark. These are long exposures where I have been, but where I disappear; the space between the sea and the sky lives anew, conjoined through that which is simultaneously digital and physical. Digital C print, face mounted to Acrylic, rear mounted to Dibond.

Lori Hepner is a Pittsburgh based artist working primarily in conceptually based performative light photography, as well as curating exploratory journeys in nature. Customized LED devices are used to gesturally re-draw the bodily knowledge attained from physical experiences of treks across Arctic landscapes. A desire to experience places that will be changing over the course of her lifetime has drawn her outdoors. A recent collaboration with singer/songwriter Kendra Ross has manifested in her first foray into live performance with Intersection*ology. A feminist exploration into the power of movement and technology, Lori has created real-time light painting systems that they wear while drawing with their bodies. Lori's work has been featured in Time Magazine's Lightbox, Next Level Magazine's Pittsburgh edition, Wired Magazine, and has been exhibited internationally in places such as the Houston Center for Photography, Carnegie Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and in photo festivals in the Netherlands, China, & Spain. One of her Twitter portraits from Status Symbols will be sent to the moon in the Moon Arc for Google's Lunar X Prize in 2019. She holds degrees from RISD and RIT and is Associate Professor of Integrative Arts at Penn State University.
