About The Artwork

Crystal Storm - by T-Gonzalez Fine-Art Photographer Chapter No.7 of The Legend of Freedom Told by Horses Discover the story and video behind this picture on https://www.t-gonzalez.com/crystal-storm CRYSTAL STORM is one of my favorites takes in this collection. An artistic angle, a background that could not better represent the Canadian winter, and a magical foreground. The sun at the zenith below which flakes resembling diamonds explode under the clatter of galloping hooves. Two horses at full speed on the road of freedom in perfect harmony with this vast Nordic setting. It was towards the end of my adventure with these horses that the opportunity for this take presented itself. Having pulled off the shot of my dreams, I left aside the planning, the focus, and the thoroughness to savor the present moment and simply enjoy the spectacle offered by the horses in the snow. But I must admit that I couldn't resist for long... When I saw these 2 horses heading towards the trees with this strong light, I knew that what was coming was a big picture… I only had a few seconds to drop on my knees in the snow , frame, adjust focus and that was it! Unlike ‘Perfection’ this take was unprepared, its angle is a lot less mathematical, but it does have something that thrills me every time I look at it. While this take was much more spontaneous, I probably would have missed it if it wasn't for a few 8 hours of fieldwork improving my technique to conquer "Perfection". Glad to have had 2 great takes from completely different recipes. Some feel free in planning, precision and organization, while for others the feeling of freedom is found in spontaneity, surprise, and the unforeseen. Although freedom is relative or different for everyone, we all love it in our own way. We are all looking for it in our own way. Although we sometimes taste it for a few moments, it often slips through our fingers. What can we learn from horses? THE LEGEND Over the centuries ink and blood have flowed in the name of freedom. On horseback, kings and nations proclaimed it while stealing it from others. The more man coveted it the further he moved away from it. He sought freedom in all four corners of the earth without ever realizing he was sitting on it. This is The Legend of Freedom Told by Horses.

T-Gonzalez is a Fine-Art Photographer specialized in wildlife and landscape. After only 1 year, his works have been sold in 10 countries on 4 continents and have been featured several times by the prestigious House&Garden magazine. HIS LOVE FOR EXPLORATION Young, Thierry loved everything related to adventure and exploration. He examined and peeled hundreds of times the world map which decorated his room, without suspecting that a little later, a paper map would no longer be enough to quench his thirst for discovering the world. Barely past his thirties, Thierry had set foot in more than 25 countries around the world. HIS PASSION FOR WILDLIFE His passion for animals manifested at a young age, devouring animal documentaries almost every evening with his father. He also received as a gift a game featuring endangered animals, which undoubtedly developed his sensitivity to their cause. HIS JOURNEY TOWARD VISUAL ART From kindergarten school, Thierry stood out in the arts, winning his class drawing contests. The following year, he was upgraded the first day of school after the teachers had examined one of his drawings. A dozen years later, he chose to study graphic arts in order to make it his profession. With a diploma in hand and having won the merits of excellence in his class, he decided to start his own business. HIS ARTISTIC APPROACH “Less is more, but details matter” is Thierry’s photographic motto. He loves to create simple images that are full of details. Extremely selective and self-critical with his images, he selects on average only one photo out of thirty, thus focusing on quality and exclusivity rather than quantity. Thierry specializes in large format animal art photography. Adoring the challenge, he knows that a photo printed in large format does not forgive any technical error, which pushes him to surpass himself in the field. MESSAGE FROM THE ARTIST Every artist sends a message through his works. The one I'm launching is this: we live on a wonderful planet, surrounded by unique animals. The modern world too often makes us forget the chance we have to take advantage of all this beautiful creation. We have so much to learn from the incredible wisdom behind nature. The perfect balance of its systems, its aesthetics and practicality. In front of such masterpieces, one realizes how faulty human inventions are. Man’s nonsense and his thirst for more is making him lose what is most precious to him, his planet.
