Depression Photograph - Limited Edition of 10

It is often thought that depression can only be expressed in dark and cold colors, but it is more complex and diverse. To me, depression is not merely a painful and sad feeling, but a kind of comfort at the same time as it becomes helpless. I tried to reproduce the complex sense. 'Depression' is a depiction of depression that has dominated me for a long time. In this work, the model represents the human body, which is not the subject of acting the emotion but the emotion trapped in the inner surface. 흔히 우울은 어둡고 차가운 색채로만 표현될 수 있다고 여기지만, 그것은 그보다 더욱 복잡하고 다양한 양상을 띠는 감정이다. 내게 우울이란 단순히 괴롭고 슬프기만 한 감정이 아닌, 무력해지면서도 동시에 일종의 위안을 주는 것이다. 그 복합적인 감각을 재현하고자 했다. ‘Depression’은 가장 오랫동안 나를 지배했던 우울증을 표현한 작품이다. 여기서 모델은 감정을 연기하는 주체가 아닌, 내면에 갇혀있던 감정이 표면으로 배어 나오게 된 인체를 상징한다.
