A man asleep in a calm sea is watched over by an army of sardines pouring on him a shower of golden bubbles. The title is inspired by a song of Bashung, "Tant de nuits" ("So many nights"), where we find these words "Des armées insolites" ("strange armies"). The original artwork is a handcut collage with paint. The paper used is a fine art matt Hahnemühle paper William Turner, framed on a shadow box frame, and is numbered 2/7.

France
Gaëlle Cueff lives in Paris. She has been mainly working on encaustic art and photography for last 2 years, and her topics are especially based on poetic potential of trees and forest. In a previous period she developed a work rooted largely in the world of cabinets of curiosities and surrealism. Her collages and assemblages combine elements of the animal kingdom, pictorial interventions and photographs in singular images with a strong narrative tendency. Her polysemic stories speak of hybridization, traces, memory. Some of her works are in Chinese, American, Swiss, French and Belgian private collections.
