About The Artwork

Photography + digital alternations. Printed on archival fine art paper. Where I'm from there's a saying 'One doesn't have to carry knowledge on his shoulders'. I don't know if translated to English it means precisely the same, so, in simple words, as I understand it, once you get the knowledge of some kind it's never a burden. I always thought this proverb is kind of wise and well thought, but recently I started doubting.. What if the knowledge you get is some negative shit that traumatizes you? That knowledge might be a heavy burden for the rest of your life. There's also a little parallel story to this. So. There's this small country, let's call it A, neighboring with a few huge countries, and through out the ages it gets conquered by one of those big. At one period of time, country let's call it B, get's to rule country A, and decides to complete fuck country A over. It forbids the written language of country A, and most of other attributes that identify country A. It lasted for a few decades. During that period, there was a group of people called 'knygnešiai' or book smugglers, they printed the book in forbidden language A, and secretly carried those to people, so they didn't lose their language. They printed and brought around 2 million books during that period. Eventually, country A saved the language, got the independence. Now it has Tiktok and facebook..
