View in a Room ArtworkView in a Room Background
In the golden light pushing through the frosted window of a door, two figures appear. In the blur, it is clear one is a waiter, holding a plate of food, ready to push through this kitchen door in a cafe somewhere, perhaps in a dream. Behind the server is a figure in white--perhaps the chef offering final instructions on the preparation of the plate about to be served to a waiting customer. There is romance about this image: the feeling of a European cafe, a kitchen door that has been painted a deep brown many times over its life of service. The brass door handle shines in the low light. And two figures, perhaps from another era, are at work in this cafe. The image is rich in color and texture, enhanced by the inkjet professional printing on arhcival cotton rag paper. NOTE: I offer this image with a 1" border on three sides, and to the left of the 24" x 24" image, there is a 6" border, which has the effect of creating a kind of illusion that there is a creamy white wall surface to the door's left side. (See additional photo of piece the way I framed and sold it.) However, you may choose to make an even border all the way around for framing. THE PRINT IS UNFRAMED.

Larry Simon takes his inspiration from seemingly everyday objects, surfaces and scenes to create dreamlike narratives shrouded in a sense of the unknown: the Inner World residing in our subconscious--a place where we cannot fill in all the blanks. As a photographic artist, he often works with a blend of sharp and soft focus, presenting his work in photo collage form or as digital prints. A constant roamer, Larry Simon is based in Chicago. Influences: Gerhard Richter, Saul Leiter, Haruki Murakami, Alfred Brendel
