Swan symbolism and meaning can conjure images of purity, innocence and magic. Swan is also associated with transformations such as death and rebirth. This project arose as a result of a sense of deep aliveness, truth, purity and spiritual connection. The series was created as a result of a chance encounter with a wild swan who displayed unusual sensitivity, loyalty and grace. It inspired a surprising collection of waterfowl as texture and form. A symbol of grace that can only be uncovered in the natural world. “Leaf” by Maya is available as an edition of 15 pieces. 60 X 48 cm (approx (23 X 19 inches) featuresa 30cm (12 inch) white border for fine art framing giving an overall image size of 90 X 78 cm (approx 35 X 31 inches). This artwork is available for purchase as a Limited Edition full color print — original work created by the artist Maya de Almeida Araujo. Printed exclusively on Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta paper which sets the standard for image definition and colour depth. This is a 325gsm 100% lignin free alpha-cellulose archival paper with pigment ink. Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, indicating that you have purchased an original work.

Maya Almeida Araujo has exhibited globally and had sites structurally adapted for her pieces. She is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice considers art as a platform for connection. With a focus on the element of water, the work floats between the spheres of still and moving images, artistic installation, and site specific work. Navigating the confluence of nature, art and technology, her work has developed through critical engagement with her own mind and body in a way that examines fundamental questions of how human beings relate to themselves and to their environment. Adopting a unique approach to each work, Maya draws on personal experience, culture and ancient philosophy to create visceral immersive experiences. An invitation to step into an imaginary world in a way that is both sensorial and profoundly intimate. It asks how we can come together and ultimately, heal. London is home but Maya was born in Lisbon to Portuguese/Belgian/German parents. She studied Biology at Imperial College, London. Her artistic path was one of auto-didacticism with training at Central Saint Martins, with best in class equipment manufacturers and under some of the greatest image makers such as Tim Flach and Lois Greenfield. The work consistently pushes technological boundaries in search for a truer realisation of the intended experience. Recent projects have involved developing custom rigs for film-making in the open ocean, multi-screen editing at ground breaking levels of resolution, colour depth, motion, interactive animation environments and producing hyper-textured ambisonic soundscapes. All in partnership with a collective of like-minded artistic collaborators and craftspeople without losing sight of her truth.
