Flying beech leaves in the forest. Autumn offers numerous motifs for photography in bright colors. The Firnskuppe photographed here in the Habichtswald Nature Park is a rocky basalt knoll nearly 314 meters high. Already before Christus the area around the Firnskuppe was visited by people, which is evident from several remains of tumuli from the La Tene period. In the past, ore and coal were searched inside this hilltop. There is still a vertical mining shaft in the rock, from which a side vault branches off in the mountain. This mining shaft also bears the name "legend shaft" and is referred to in mythology as the "path to the underworld" that is to be avoided. Many a person is said to have disappeared in it forever and ever.
