About The Artwork

Available formats: 50 x 50 cm [approximately 20 x 20 inches] 100 x 100 cm [approximately 40 x 40 inches] 200 x 200 cm [approximately 80 x 80 inches] Also available as a print behind acrylic glass with frame. ___________________________________________ A quite exuberant, yet provocative depiction confronts us: A surge of soup broth flows from the mouth of a woman. An expression of abundance and excess, which can also be read as a metaphor for a society in surplus, where consumption and desire uncontrollably spring. The incorporation of an obese woman evokes memories of the work of Colombian painter Fernando Botero, whose figuratively voluptuous depictions of human bodies and objects ironically questioned societal conventions and norms. Just as Botero highlighted weight and fullness as signs of wealth and luxury in his works, one might also recognize a connotation of pleasure and wealth here. But this expression of excess also leads us to reflect on the social and bodily dimension of overconsumption. It's a bold depiction of human weakness and at the same time a subtle critique of our society's obsession with food and consumption.

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
