About The Artwork

This work is called MLK & Friends as a cheeky take on the FOX Television show Fox & Friends. It is an actual photograph, nothing is photoshopped in as people often ask. It features several sculptures including the head of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (wearing old headphones), plus busts of President John F. Kennedy & President Lincoln along with Pope John Paul ll (and his iconic red shoes), Benjamin Franklin and a handful of female figures. There is also a rhinestone gun, lots of glitzy costume jewelry, trendy chihuahuas, and old toys which symbolize things from the 2nd Amendment to the fashion world and Hollywood. The living plants & vivid colors symbolize the ongoing life that these characters continue to represent even in their afterlife. This photograph is mounted on high quality ultra glossy aluminum which gives it a very contemporary feel. It is printed by Griffin Editions in New York who works with some of the top living artists in the world.

I grew up in Laguna Beach, California and lived in Southern California most of my life, however, I am now residing half my time in North Carolina. I've been a professional artist for over 20 years, this is my full time job, it's not a back-up plan. I've shown my artwork in galleries across the United States and in Los Cabos, Mexico. In addition to my art I have published for books all sold at Barnes & Noble etc. but my true passion is painting and sculpting. I'm passionate about women's issues, equal rights, the environment and animals. Artist Statement: I often use vivid colors to feature topics with a darker undertone. Some of the subjects I paint about are: women, race, equality, politics, the environment, pop culture, power & mental illness. My work is often iconic and easily recognizable by my unique style of outlining my subjects both literally and figuratively.
