About The Artwork

1/7 The image was shot in early 2001 during my retreat in mount Parnassus. Mount Parnassus is a mountain of limestone in central Greece that towers above Delphi, north of the Gulf of Corinth, and offers scenic views of the surrounding olive groves and countryside. This mountain was sacred to Dionysus and the Dionysian mysteries; it was also sacred to Apollo and the Corycian nymphs, and it was the home of the Muses. The mountain was also favored by the Dorians. It is suggested that the name derives from parnassas, the possessive adjective of the Luwian word parna meaning house, or specifically temple, so the name effectively means the mountain of the house of the God. Throughout history, Parnassus was the fortification of the Greek tribes of south Greece, against invaders from the north, with the greatest occurrence the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. against the Persian forces. http://onparnassos.gr/en/parnassos-mountain The image was taken on my last day, and it is a view of the mountain area taken from Tithorea village. http://onparnassos.gr/en/location/upper-tithorea -------------------------------------------- Your fine art print will be produced to the highest standards, proofed, checked and packed rolled in a tube sent by courier. The paper is of the highest quality specially selected by the artist. Comes with Signed & Numbered Certificate of Authenticity, which includes the Description and guarantees your print is a Work of Art, only available at the editions stated. This can be affixed to the back when framed. The original ones are printed on Hahnemuehle Photo RagĀ® Baryta paper, that combines the virtues of a luxury cotton paper and a traditional Baryta board. The very fine surface texture with the Baryta museum quality gloss endows portraits with a particularly expressive character. They are sent unframed with the appropriate extra space for framing. Alternative print media: Canvas, upon request. All final prints are quality inspected by the author and have the appropriate extra space for framing. Other Sizes: Alternative sizes of the specified numbered, Limited Edition prints can available upon request, either on special Fine Art paper or on Canvas. Just let me know which size you prefer and I will list it. A Note on Canvases: Canvases are unframed and unmounted, they need to be stretched or framed once you get them. They are matte varnished and come with 1.5 - 2 inch (4 - 5cm) gallery wrap or with white or dark colored sides, just let me know which you prefer. Once ready, they are carefully wrapped in acid free tissue then shipped in a sturdy art tube to ensure safe delivery. Thanks for looking, if you have any questions just let me know. Greek artist. Spyros Agrianitis (LightStories) was born in Athens. Studied photography and art history in the UK and Greece. "I celebrate the irony of life through my art. It is the irony of colors, of spaces, of feelings, of moments never to come again. There is no predictability, no control.. only the NOW. I celebrate the Now, the only moment there is, through my clicks.. But I put my own filter to the moment through my time in the dark room. My influence from my early days of painting turns most of my images picturesque, and thus the work portfolio is controversial. Instead of adapting all images to one style of "me", I prefer to treat each image uniquely, as it deserves, taking a different path each time. The completion of magic which starts form the moment I raise my camera to the eye, and ends with the final hours in post processing. It is the last moment when you feel it is "all" complete, that you do not need to touch the picture any more... and maybe this was my original fantasy, my original dream..." Since 1993 I have shot quite a number of celebrities, fashion models, designers, and well known artists around the world.
