Polystyrene Plate (alley behind Alberta) - Limited Edition of 5 Photograph

This work is a return to an earlier way of working, namely collecting things on my walks to photograph in the studio. It is partly inspired by restrictions to recycling polystyrene and I am fascinated by what time and exposure will do to such a long lasting material. It is influenced by Irving Penn’s mid-century photographs of gum on sidewalks. The photographs are printed in a single layer of gum bichromate, a historical photographic process favored by late 19th century photographers working in the Pictorialist style.
