About The Artwork
This Roadside Giant is called 'Poor Richard', ironic really considering the artists' name, and the sad state of his broken off head. Poor Richard refers to the Almanack published by Benjamin Franklin in between 1732-1758, which was popular for its extensive use of wordplay, and some of the witty phrases coined in the contemporary American vernacular. Finding this on his road trip between Mecca and the Salton Sea, this bearded cowboy is an iconic Muffler Man. This artwork is a limited edition of 25 gloss photographic print made in the artist's darkroom. It is signed and numbered on reverse accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The print is dry-mounted to aluminium, presented in a museum board window mount and a choice of black or white box frame. It can be requested unframed.

Although I was brought up in East Anglia, I was heavily influenced by America, I visited American bases, I kept magazine cuttings and I followed drag racing. The speed, lifestyle and technicolour is reflected in my imagery. Colour is a major aspect to my work, it drives my equipment and material choices. I have made many bodies of work, while there are distinctions between them they are all linked somehow. I have exhibited widely, in the early part of my career following an exhibition at the Photographers Gallery in 1989, many of my exhibitions toured Museums and Galleries around England. From 2007 presentation of my work has mostly been at Art Fairs in the UK and worldwide where it has been brought by many international collectors. My piece 'Thrills' was part of the 2018 250th Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
