The connection of the mouth with an inflatable object could be seen as a playful nod to Surrealism and the Pop Art concept of everyday objects in a new, unexpected context. The transparent, colored PVC ring could symbolize the human ability to view life through different 'lenses' or perspectives, with the valve representing the 'inflation' and 'deflation' of our personal and social identities. On a deeper philosophical level, this depiction could illuminate the discursive nature of human existence and remind us that we are continually in the process of reconstructing ourselves and our realities.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
