The image is a part of 'The Dance' project inspired by Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan movie. The concept of the shooting pivoted on the idea of oscillating between good and evil, love and hate, addiction, and freedom. It wasn't a statement that there are only extremes and nothing in between, but these extremes are so contrasting that they immediately catch the eye. That is why it was shot in black and white with a minimum of shades in between.
